FARO's efforts are driven by two fundamental considerations.

The first is the economic disparity between urban Sri Lanka, primarily concentrated around its capital Colombo , and the rest of the country. There is significant economic and social benefit that would accrue in diversifying and broad basing this structure.

The second is the rapidly growing opportunities globally for outsourcing of economic activities to virtual locations. Internet driven technical capability has enabled services to be rendered effectively thousands of miles away from the customer base. Organizations no longer need all of their support services to be located in close proximity, and are finding outsourcing to be an increasingly viable and attractive option.

With these two dynamics, the need to broad base economic opportunity and the availability of a modern tool to carry this forward, Faro's efforts will be focused at a specific niche in the growing outsourcing market. Outsourcing covers a vast range of possibilities but our efforts will be concentrated primarily in the outsourcing of office services, from payroll related services to accounting, customer service call centers and other business process outsourcing services (BPO).

FARO will begin by setting up a pilot outsourcing project, backed up with trained personnel and required infra structure at a rural location in Mahavilachchiya. After its successful implementation, this experience will be extended to seven other sites in rural Sri Lanka . Initial outsourcing work will be provided for clients within Sri Lanka , drawn from the private and State sectors. With experience this will be extended to more distant clients overseas.

We are very excited about the business model we have been able to identify. How we plan to execute is shared in the next section.
