Mission

Our Mission is to provide rural youth with sustainable career opportunity in the rapidly growing outsourcing industry.By bridging the divide that separate our rural youth from having access to equal opportunity,we strive to making a lasting change in our society.

Vision

Our vision is driven by the ever expanding capability today with broadband internet connectivity to have work and services rendered from remote locations, without been centralised in urban centers.

As companies overseas outsource work to locations thousands of miles away,we also can outsource work to our villages using similar internet connectivity. This will result in a significant broadbasing and diversification of economic opportunity within our country.

How We Work

Our vehicle for achieving this goal is the rural BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) model. This model is based on giving full ownership and profit sharing to the youth operators of each unit, entrusting total responsibility and the risks (profits/losses) to them.FARO’s role is to provide this unique entrpreneurial experince to this youth by taking a holistic approach in setting up the venture. FARO’s work start with the formation of a legal entity for the BPO,with its own Articles of Association and Memorandum, that details the organizational structure and governance procedure. The selection and training of a leadership group to manage the BPO at the selected site is the next step.Setting up the infra structure (computer hardware/software/broadband connectivity/office furniture) and securing the funding is done simultaneously. The key step of finding a client that offers sustainable outsourcing work to the BPO supported with training specific to its work is the final step in starting the project.

During the first two years of operations of each BPO, FARO maintains a very close mentoring role to ensure that the young leadership understand and practice good governance and sound business management.During this initial period the owner operators are also intensely trained and supervised by the client on the work they do in meeting productivity and quality standards.

We established the first ever rural BPO in Sri Lanka with our pilot project in Mahavilachchiya,a remote village in the NW of the country. It has been a very successful model where the local youth are fast demonstrating their ability to run their own business outfit profitably, whilst gaining good financial benefits and valuable entrepreneurial experience.Following the success of this first project,we are now scaling this business model to similar BPO’s in Seenigama(South) and Uduvil(North).See Projects for detail information about each of these BPO’s.
